The writer only knows what you tell it, so the details box matters more than anything else. One concrete memory (“she drove me to every swim meet”), a running joke, or what they did this year turns a generic line into one that could only be for them. Two short details are better than one long paragraph.
- Say who it’s for in your own words: “my sister-in-law”, “my son’s soccer coach”, “our neighbor who walks our dog”.
- Pick the tone you’d use out loud. Funny works for close friends; heartfelt for big moments; formal for work and people you know less well.
- Don’t like any of the three? Press “Write three more” for a different set, or change one detail and try again.
- Edit freely. Swap a word for one you’d say, add a name, cut a sentence. The best card messages are short.
A good card message in three parts

That’s two or three sentences, which fits any card and gets read. If you want more room for a longer note, choose a full letter in the studio instead of a card.
