For financial advisors

The relationship is the real service.

Your clients trust you with the things that matter most to them, and most of that work happens quietly. A handwritten card after a review, on a birthday or when someone sends a friend your way says you remember the person, not just the account. Upload your client list once and every card is written for that client, in real pen and ink.

01

A thank-you after every annual review

Reviews are where the trust is built. A short note the week after says you were listening, and gives the client something to keep on the desk instead of another statement.

Use the client thank-you template →
Example · Client thank-you
“Thank you for making time for our review last week, Maria. It was good to hear the cabin plans are coming together.”

02

Client birthdays, every year

Add a birthday column to your list and each client gets a real card on their birthday, written fresh every year. You approve them on your dashboard before anything is charged.

Example · Client birthday
“Happy birthday, David. I hope the day is full of the people you love, and that the grandkids let you win at least one game.”

03

Referral thank-yous the same week

When a client introduces a friend or family member, thank them by hand while it still feels personal. It is the kind of gesture people mention to the next friend too.

Use the referral thank-you template →
Example · Referral thank-you
“Thank you for introducing me to your sister, Ruth. I know that kind of trust isn’t given lightly, and I’m grateful.”

04

Retirement and life milestones

A client retiring, a new grandchild, a child heading off to college: a card that marks the moment means more than a newsletter ever will.

Example · Checking in
“Congratulations on your last day at the plant, Gene. Forty years is something to be proud of. Enjoy that first slow Monday.”

Thanksgiving and holiday client cards

Thank your whole book of clients at Thanksgiving, when inboxes are full of sales, or send holiday cards in December that are actually signed and written.

“This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for clients like you, Priya. Working with your family this year has been a real privilege.”

Why a card is worth it

Most of what clients receive from their advisor is printed, automated or behind a login. A handwritten envelope stands out on the kitchen counter, gets opened first, and is often kept. That is the whole point: being remembered as a person who pays attention.

Referrals and retention both come from the same place, the sense that someone is looking out for you. A card on a birthday or after a referral costs little next to a single client relationship, and it takes you a few minutes a year once your list is uploaded.

Keeping cards compliant

  • Keep cards personal and free of performance claims, returns, recommendations or promises about the future. Our writer is told to stay away from them, and you can read and edit every card before it is mailed.
  • If your firm reviews client correspondence, share the approved message with your compliance team first and keep a copy of what was sent. Every card stays visible in your dashboard.
  • Never put account numbers, balances or other financial details on a card: it travels through the mail like any other envelope.
