For mortgage lenders & loan officers

After the closing table, stay in the picture.

A mortgage is one of the biggest things your borrowers will ever sign, and then the relationship usually goes quiet. A handwritten thank-you after closing, a card on the anniversary of their loan and a note to the agents who send you business keep you in mind for the next move, the refinance and the friend who is about to buy.

Messages to start from

Write one message with merge fields in curly brackets, or start from one of these. Each client’s values are filled in, and then the card is written for them.

01

A thank-you after every closing

Send each borrower a personal note the week they get the keys. Add {property_address} and the card names the home you helped them buy.

Use the client thank-you template →
Example · Client thank-you
“Congratulations on 14 Elm Street, Maria. Thank you for letting me be part of getting you there.”

02

Loan anniversaries, every year

Include a closing date column and each borrower gets a card on their home anniversary, every year, with how long they have been there. You approve every card on your dashboard first.

Use the home-purchase anniversary template →
Example · Home-purchase anniversary
“Happy three years in the house, Tom and Ellie. I hope the porch swing is still getting plenty of use.”

03

Notes to referral partners

Thank the agents, builders and planners who send you borrowers. A handwritten card after a shared closing does more for the relationship than another lunch invitation.

Use the referral thank-you template →
Example · Referral thank-you
“Thank you for sending the Garcias my way, Dana. Working that closing with you was a pleasure, as always.”

04

Borrower birthdays

Add a birthday column and every borrower gets a real card on their birthday, written fresh each year.

Use the client birthday template →
Example · Client birthday
“Happy birthday, Keisha! I hope you celebrate somewhere with a good view and better cake.”

05

Holiday cards for your whole pipeline

Send personal holiday cards to past borrowers and partners in December instead of a printed card with a stamped signature.

Use the holiday client card template →
Example · Holiday client card
“Wishing you a warm first holiday season in the new house, Ben. Thank you for a great year.”

Why a card is worth it

Borrowers rarely remember who their loan officer was a few years later, which is exactly when they might refinance, buy again or tell a friend who to call. A card on each home anniversary keeps your name attached to the happiest moment of the process.

Partner agents notice, too. A handwritten thank-you after a smooth closing is a small, personal way to say you value the relationship, and it takes minutes once your list is uploaded.

Keeping cards compliant

  • Keep cards free of rates, terms, pre-approval claims or offers: those can count as advertising with disclosure rules of their own. The writer is told to stay personal, and you can edit every card.
  • Send the same kind of card to every borrower in a group so nobody is treated differently.
  • Leave loan numbers and financial details off the card.
